The 6-cell battery wont stick out as T400/t500, weight include battery is 1.889kg, keyboard feels like thinkpad quiet and comfort, quality is very nice compare to XpS 1330.
cons: lack of ports, glossy screen is hard to use outside
-
I only see a chinese words and a PConline.com logo.
-
-
I can't see it either.
-
Is there any way i can upload images to this sever?
-
photobucket.com
Upload 'em there. and later put it here. -
done . I hope it works now.
-
Thanks for the pics.
-
Ugh, I want one now~! I'm hitting refresh on the Singapore/HK twice a day in anticipation.
-
Nice, thanks man.
-
Thanks for the info.
The U330 seems awfully hot based on this review, which raises some concern. -
-
104*F palm rests and 106*F touchpad are pretty much up there in comparison to the other Ideapads, especially in an air conditioned 78*F room. (I don't have that luxury, especially now.)
The review from pconline.com.cn also had thermal management as one of the cons as running the notebook off of the IGP only brought down the temps by a few *C - still a bit warm. -
admlam: I am really interested in this laptop but the temperature tests are a bit worrysome. Which models did post with their temps? They seem a little friendlier.
-
The pictures I used were from the Y510 and U110 to compare with the temps reported by the Chinese review.
度 is degrees in Chinese and those values are in Celsius. Not very comforting, although in their defense, they used a P8600 in the review unit.
But at the areas of question, the hard drive and 0.9" thick chassis would probably be the culprit.
And oh crap, I hope the US keyboard isn't like that... left shift and |\ key are looking out of place. -
Do you think the P8600 had something to do with the higher temps? According to Wikipedia the P7350, P8400, and P8600 have the same TDP of 25W. Also, were those temperatures recorded while it was under load, or idle? Sorry for so many questions, but this seems to be the only review I can find of this laptop and it's in chinese which I cannot read!
-
Don't need to be able to read Chinese...

well besides the p8600 being in that laptop for heat, i also have a feeling that is coming from when the video card is turned on, whcih makes sence as most laptops get around that hot, especially with a dedicated video card.
we will see when NBR releases a review! -
admlam: Thanks for the link. The chinese review site lists Gigabit network card but alot of other sites that list the U330's specs say 10/100 which I thought was odd in such a modern laptop.
Also, it cleared up the issue of whether the tests were done under load. It says 2 hours of load to get those temps, which I guess aren't so bad. I am curious about idle temps since I plan on having this on for alot of the time. -

Cool beans looks like a decent machine.
*sigh* Unfortunately I'm still a thinkpad whore -
wondering if the quoted 196 min battery life from that on the integrated graphics is when 3dmark is running or during gaming/hd movies?
because they don't really explain if it was just the internet because they got the listing right under the 3dmark scores, and around the game testing.
anyone have an ide? -
how much better is this compared to the Dell M1330?
-
Are the Lenovo U330 screens high gloss? I hope not. Cannot see text with those things. I dont get what the bigee is with those things. It is pushing me to gofor the T400
-
-
Well in defense of the U330 in that review getting quite hot: I've seen more people complain about the heat of the Fujitsu 250GB drive.
-
I can't imagine it will be much hotter than the DV4t I plan on sending back to HP.

"The biggest disappointment is the display, which has a very grainy look to it. Were not sure if its the display itself or the glossy cover, but its not pretty and was tough on our eyes."
http://www.pcworld.com/article/146729/lenovo_ideapad_u110_ultraportable_laptop.html
"As on the IdeaPad Y510, Lenovo's glossy treatment creates an annoying amount of glare, even with the brightness control set all the way up. At least you'll be fine indoors."
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2293281,00.asp
"The IdeaPad's 11-inch widescreen also receives a glossy treatment, which extends beyond the screen to the trimmings. This technique gives the IdeaPad a snazzy feelalmost like that of a miniature HDTVwithout producing intolerable glare[...] It's the same screen as the one on the Sony VAIO VGN-TZ150N, with the same resolution"
http://www.digitgeek.com/lenovo-ideapad-u110-review/
"It looks good with good brightness and contrast levels, but it is a bit too glossy. The display quality is also a wee bit grainy. Due to the high glossiness, it is difficult to read anything on the display without straining your eyes. There is a bit too reflection even under standard lighting conditions" -
when you get a u330 in your hands, make your own opinion of the screen before posting reviews of other similar laptops -
I was responding to his comment that the reviewer may not be reliable. I was quoting other reviews showing similar views and my post was not off topic whatsoever...
I purchased a U330 and am waiting for it to arrive so yes I will be forming my own opinion. My ship date is Sept 30th.
Hmm... maybe I should have spent $100 more and got the 3GB RAM 320GB HD option... My total came out to be $1003 shipped with the lesser option.
