In the spec sheet for the x60s it only lists these CPU's:

    Intel Core Duo L2500 (1.83GHz, 2MB, 667MHz)
    Intel Core Duo L2400 (1.66GHz, 2MB, 667MHz)
    Intel Core Solo U1300 (1.06GHz, 2MB, 533MHz)

Can I replace these with any Intel Core 2 Duo CPU?

I plan buying this from directlenovo.com so I can get a better price and was wondering if all the x60s on there are for the ultralight TFT screen as opposed to the regular TFT screen on the x60? Under the spec sheet this is what it says for the x60s weight:

    12.1" XGA: 1.33kg/2.93 lb (4-cell prismatic), 1.38kg/3.04 lb (4-cell cylindrical), 1.33kg/2.93 lb (8-cell cylindrical)

    12.1" UltraLight XGA: 1.24kg/2.73 lb (4-cell prismatic), 1.29kg/2.84 lb (4-cell cylindrical), 1.51kg/3.33 lb(8-cell cylindrical) <~~~ looking for this model

Also, do any of you know any other laptop lighter than this? Main factors I am looking for are:

    1. weight
    2. cpu power

I don't care for video (integrated is fine)

CPU power will only get you so far. It depends on what you are doing.

I believe that the LV Core Duo is soldered on the motherboard, but I could be wrong. Consider the X60 regular. It uses the standard core duo. As ZaZ has stated, CPU power is really not as important today as it was a few years ago. What will you be doing?

Yes, the CPU for the X series is soldered on. If you're waiting for C2D for the x60s, a LV C2D (1.5ghz) will be announced in Jan (and prolly shipping in Feb). If you're looking for the EMT64 extensions, wait until Feb, otherwise just get a 1.83Ghz CD. Even though C2D is faster, the 20% increase in clock speed of the CD will probably make the CD faster than the C2D.

Oh, I forgot to add, the C2D will have 4MB of L2 cache if you need that too. I remember Anand saying something of minimal gains over the 2MB L2 cache although that's for present day tasks. It may be more significant with the advent of Vista and 64 bits.
