    Hi,

I haven't researched this that much but I was hoping someone might just be able to tell me clearly - is there a set of drivers for the fx570m which work well for 32-bit vista?

Thus far I have tried these sets of drivers:
169.28 using the geforce driver side hacks from here - team fortress 2 exhibits very wierd flickering bheaviour using these drivers
180.84 DOX from laptopvideo2go - runs quite hot and laptop no longer resumes from standby
174.16 official drivers] for 7.16.11.7597 - I can no longer play starcraft fullscreen.

I also have extremely bizarre and stupid behaviour with monitors (I plug into a 24" WUXGA at home via docking DVI, and a 20" UXGA at work via d-sub) regarding not being able to drive 32-bit native high-resolutions without a lot of fiddling. I'm not sure if this is nvidia drivers or just vista being extremely stupid.

Anyway, at this point I'd just like to settle on a set of drivers that would maybe work nicely. Can someone recommend a set? Preferably someone who can confirm that the above problems I am experiencing are fixed in them.

I'm using 175.97 which is stable, but I think performance could better.

    try http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ for some drivers

I've managed to make it install like a GeForce 8600M. you can go for the default FX570M version as well.

    use the lenovos driver

    then overclock it

then run tpfancontrol to take care of the extra heat

    .. done

Off topic, but how exactly do you use tpfancontrol to change fan speeds at different temperatures?

I had a good experience with 178.24 -- the recent stock Lenovo 175.97 drivers also seem to work all right (what I'm using for right now), but maybe not for your specialized purposes.

install it, and then open tpfancontrol.ini , at the end of it there are preset temperatures with coresponding fan speeds (in terms of numbers). So you can set different fan speeds at whatever temperatures you wish.

in my experiments I've determined that only couple of numbers change the fan speed as follows:

    0 - off
    1 - 2500 rpm
    3 - 3000 rpm
    6 - 3300 rpm
64 - 4600 rpm <-very usefull if you overclock the video card

Sorry for not getting back to you guys, I just thought I would update the comedic situation that makes me hate nvidia and lenovo a lot

starcraft doesn't work (starts up tiny in the top left corner of the screen with the rest of the screen black)

left 4 dead doesn't work (can't create d3d device and takes me to a page on steampowered.com that suggests it is a ati driver problem)

    see above.

Anyway today I tried installing the 182.06 drivers. That did not work (running setup and it says it has done nothing, attempting to update drivers and it says it is already up to date. I tried using the laptopvideo2go nv4_disp.inf with the same result. I then tried the 182.08 drivers with the same result (both with original and ltv2g nv4_disp).

Then I reinstall the original lenovo drivers. When I rebooted the result was this: [IMG]

    It is good times! :)
