Hi guys,I'm having a problem with the payments for purchasing a x201s and please help if you know how.

1.I am currently living in Canada and I am asking my friend who lives in the US a favor by purchasing a x201s for me. So I will use my Canadian credit card to buy it and have it ship to my friend's address in the US. I heard before Lenovo.com doesn't accept non-US credit card? Is that true?(in this case, billing address and shipping address are different, one in Canada and one in US). What if I want to use my own canadian credit card, any suggestion to solve this problem? how can I talk to the Customer Rep?

2.Alternatively, I tried to check out with my Canadian Paypal account (it links to my Canadian credit card),but unfortunately I failed in the end. So if Lenovo doesn't accept foreign credit card directly, do they reject foreign Paypal account as well?

I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do, please help and give some useful suggestions. Thanks a lot.

I believe you need someone living in the US to purchase it online for you or you could simply find something similar on Ebay.

Lenovo does not accept non-US based bank issued credit cards. Most US Internet retailers do not.

I don't know about Paypal, but it doesn't seem like a big stretch to say the wouldn't.

I might add if this is a CTO machine bought directly from Lenovo, they do not have IWS and it cannot be added later. You might want to consider a pre-configured model, which has IWS.

One option might be to send your friend the money. You could have them buy it and send it to you.

I don't know what purpose it serves to be frustrated about it. It's Lenovo's company. They get to set the rules.

Actually a lot of US-based Internet retailers DO accept Canadian credit cards for payment; at least, the ones that actually SHIP to Canada usually do.

That said, it can be problematic to ship to a different address than your billing address (the one the credit card company has on file). Even within your own country, that can be tricky; across a border, I'm thinking very tough.

I'm curious though why you'd want to buy it this way rather than just ordering through the Canadian Lenovo site? The shipping's free and there are no customs charges when delivered; you get your warranty without any issue; there's often promotions going (check redflagdeals.com for example), so I can't see pricing being significantly difereent.

Wouldn't Lenovo Canada employees need to find new jobs then? Wouldn't everyone else would be buying from Lenovo US? :)

Well I was actually trying to ask: why bother ordering it from the the US?

It's way cheaper and if the warranty still applied in Canada, why not?

My bad...guess it's getting really late here.

Thanks a lot, guys. Well, things in Canada are really expensive compared with prices in the US. Considering the high taxes I have to pay here and the recent USD-CAD rate being as low as1:1.03, it will actually save a lot (approx.$300-$400) if I purchase in the US instead. I'm a price-sensitive customer but only like Thinkpads. My friend will visit and bring it to me later so probally I don't have to pay Canadian taxes for it. Actually lots of Canadians go south to buy stuff in the US.

I'm trying everything I can imagine to make this possible. Correct me if I am wrong. I called my bank to add my friend as an althorized user of my credit card, with her US-address being added as a second shipping address.I suppose by doing so, at lease there would be no problems with the shipping doesn't match the billing. (This is what I think, not sure if it works).

Alternatively, I'm still trying to fix the Paypal problem. It says in their websites, you don't even have to expose your credit card number to the seller. If this is the case, does it still matter if I'm using a Canadian or US credit card? Lenovo will get the money from Paypal not from me. However, when I checked out with Paypal, it redirected me back to Lenovo.com and said "paypal is unable to proceed...please contact Paypal...". It seems to me the problem is with Paypal not with Lenovo.

Anyway, I'll talk to Lenovo US customer reps and see what they would say.

    Thanks
