once you get that sticky syrup in the key mechanism, you are in bad shape. I have successfully rinsed a laptop keyboard in warm water before (with the keyboard removed from the laptop, of course). Afterward, I blew air from a compressor into every nook and cranny I could find to get the water out. Then I let the keyboard dry for a couple of days. It worked well for a short time after that, but we eventually replaced it. If I recall correctly, a couple of the keys stopped working.

Soda is evil :(. I guess if you were to have a liquid spilled you'd want water or coffee.

i don't get the whole coffee thing.. it's hot.... plastic and hot beverage don't mix.... sure it doesn't short circuit your mobo but wont' it deform the keys? lol i would love some carbon fiber or like... titanium or some wicked cool keyboard key materials lol

on a serious note: search around... people are getting T61 keyboards for their T400.. and i think they were under 100 bucks? see if you can find a X61...

oh and also if you have accidental warranty and it's still under warranty just get warranty work done on it thenn

Soda isn't the nicest thing to get out of a keyboard. Try rinsing it under some warm water after you remove the keyboard from the laptop. Your best bet is to buy a new keyboard from Lenovo if you don't have accidental warranty. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
