Accidentally spilled a glass of water onto my laptop last night and I think it's completely ruined. I dried it off and i'm going to let it sit for a few days. The weird thing is that the green battery light is still on and the battery never lasts for more than a few hours. Sign of a dead laptop?

Take the battery out.

Spontaneously I'd think taking out bays/drives and giving everything a good exposure to a hair dryer might help?!

If it is a Thinkpad, remove the battery and have it open, level and raise it up a couple of inches. Use the corners as support and leave the middle section open. The keyboard has a mechanism for draining water out the bottom of the laptop so do not invert it, don't use a hair drying just prop it up level like I stated and let it air dry for 48-72 hours.

You might want to put individual components in a plastic baggie with a bunch of silica gel packs (the little bags that often come with electronics), or if you don't have those, uncooked instant rice.

Thanks for the quick response, everyone.
Just took the battery out, hope the machine isn't completely fried.
Unfortunately it isn't a Thinkpad, couldn't afford one when I was looking at notebooks a few years back and opted for the 3000 N100 instead. But if this one hits the bed a Thinkpad could be in the very near future.
