Just wanted to alert everyone in this forum that it could be worth your time staying up until 12:01 a.m. EST 7/15/2008 or for those in Europe waking a little early, 5:01 a.m. GMT. As you know, Intel will be announcing the Montevina platform tomorrow and there might just be some new ThinkPads to go with it.

I wish I could tell from which notebook this message was broadcast, but then I'd be in trouble.

Lucky!
I'll try to stay up
-
haha, awesome, that'll be 9 for me, i'll be here
-
lol,i love your sig
so how is x4500 in it?
-
So it is not delayed until Aug 5??
-
Things will get interesting, that's for sure.
-
Nice try!
But you know he couldn't say just yet.
-
Thanks for the headsup, Andrew. I'll definitely be here.
-
You are so bad! ;-)
-
Remember, availability and announcements are two different things. So Aug. 5th is still a reliable date for being able to actually order anything.
-
I prefer the lag in availability. This way you have 3 weeks to absorb the benchmarks/reviews of all the new models, which removes the potential disappointment from an impulse buy.
-
That's a good way to look at things in my own opinion, but not the way our "Got to Have It Now" culture works anymore. -
Oh no... This worries me, I am about to get a T61 and have it saved in my cart and I really need all these discounts to get a decent T61. So if I have it saved in my cart will I still get the deal for the T61 after 12:01 ???
Other than that, awesome, I've been waiting to see what kind of stuff they'll offer! -
Not sure if this works, but what if you walk through the order process and at the last part where you put in credit card info you use the "Convert to Quote" feature to generate a quote?
Since the quote is good for 30 days, wouldn't they have to honor it? -
Geez, I was just about to pull the trigger on a new T61 but this will definetly make me wait
-
damn, come on Intel......
-
Wow I can't believe intel still hasn't made the announcement yet, it's like forgetting about your own birthday
-
see below
That is correct that is the purpose of a quote. At anytime during the thirty days you can convert the quote to an order (there will be no change in price). -
Does anyone know if this would work? I was planning to buy a T61 tonight before the sale expires, but now I would like to wait and see what happens tonight. My only concern about the T61 was battery life, so it would be interesting to see what my options are.
-
Can you wait? Of course you can. Save your deal as a price quote. Then you got 30 days to decide which you prefer. That'd probably give you enough to at least read a few reviews and get some of the details.
If you want lots of battery life you should probably look at the X series. Small screen + big battery = mmmmmmm...., battery life. -
Thanks Lew, tobius and ZaZ! I'll have to do it quickly then. Thanks again for the tip!!
-
Ok, I'll stay up, and await the info.
-
Can you tell us how long you've had that mystery laptop in your hands?

ok that says it all. -
Let's hope the site actually changes shortly after midnight, bc sonystyle's announcement is already a few hours behind schedule...
-
I think they can't release their new lineup before intel announces montevina. Hopefully it'll happen in an hour like they're saying now.
-
Anyone else staying up and waiting?
-
It's 9:15 pm where i live so i would stay up a few more hours anyway
-
-
finally... it's happening

my goodness. That's an article probabaly accidentally posted early!
"The laptop measures 11.6 by 8.3 by 0.8 inches (29.5 by 21 by 2.07 centimeters) with a four-cell battery, making it comparable to Lenovo's ThinkPad X300 laptop, which weighs 2.93 pounds and measures 0.73 inches at its thinnest point.
The laptop starts at US$1,199 and will be available in August, according to the company."
.8 is amazing! Now, i't max thickness is .8 or thinest is .8?
and $1,199...just as I predicted. -
Should be more, where is my W500 ?????
Hopefully the cpp code will still work. -
Here you go. Available in August, which is a bit inconvenient.
