I just bought a S10 with 512MB ram. Lenovo says S10 uses ddr2 667 ram. But when I go to control panel -> system, I see "797Mhz, 512MB of RAM". So that's ddr2-800? So lenovo specs are incorrect?

Check with CPU-Z to see what speed the RAM is running at. The system info may be reporting the nominal speed. If the memory tab of CPU-Z shows 400MHz then the speed is 800MHz (double data rate).

797MHz is the speed your processor is running at. Most processors (laptop and desktop) can operate at multiple voltages/clockspeeds. Your S10 has an Atom and should be able to run at 1.6GHz for intense tasks, ≈800MHz for idle tasks (increases battery life), and possibly somewhere in between for a task that consistently requires intermediate power (My x200 Tablet runs between 800MHz and 1.86GHz).

Your computer may have either 667MHz or 800MHz DDR2 but it will make no difference. The S10 only has a 667MHz FSB (contrast to 1066MHz on my x200) and any RAM faster than 667MHz will simply slow it self down to 667MHz.

You're right. The speed 797Mhz is about CPU, but the text overflows to the second line with RAM info. So it's confusing. But my S10 is plugged in, why the speed is still lowered when on AC?

Adaptive should be default when plugged in. This is desirable behavior as it reduces heat buildup and noise (does the S10 have a fan?), while still providing good performance (it will automatically speed up to 1.6GHz as tasks require).

I even use the equivalent technology (Cool & Quiet) on my quad core desktop because the adaptive speed works so well.
