Apologies if there's a thread that covers accessories discounts/coupons for Lenovo, if it exists I couldn't track it down.

I'm hoping to buy another battery for my T61, but I'd like to find some sort of a discount coupon to apply before I do. From reading old posts, it seems that Lenovo was emailing out some '20% off accessories' coupons in mid-2006. Has anyone received anything like this recently? (If it's not exclusive, would you consider posting... or PM me?)

Any suggestions for where to find some kind of discount? I was hoping there'd be an 'accessories discount master thread'...

Alternatively, if you can suggest a better place to get batteries, I'm all ears. However, I'd like to get one that I'm reasonably confident will be reliable, not a low-quality 3rd party producer. Just isn't worth the risk with the new machine. Many thanks.

fleabay, why buy from Stealovo when you can get it for half on the bay?

I did this for a previous laptop, and it worked all right. But that was a $700 machine, already 2 years old, and our of warranty. In other words, if some off-brand battery fried it it wasn't the end of the world. However, I'm hesitant to take the same chance with my brand new T61. I'm happy to pay a small premium to know that I'm getting a battery that's likely not to cause problems.

I would not suggest a knock-off brand on Ebay, especially since your laptop is new.

There's a IBM Shareholders Purchase Program which will give you a small discount.

First off, my suggestion was for new Lenovo batts which are on fleabay
Second, how in the world could a battery fry a notebook? Has anyone ever actually reported such a thing?
