    computer: t61, 2.0gighz, 2gig ram

my computer shuts down if i run anything that is related to video or gaming. it will not shut down instantly, but it will shut down after a minute or so.

also, the only way to start the computer back up again, is if i take out battery, ac plug, and press the power button 10 times, then plug everything back again.

other then that, the laptop works solid, anyone know what could be causing the problem?

edit: also another thing i just realized is. if i right click desktop, click properties. click settings tab, click advanced. click adapter tab, the memory for my nvidia quadro nvs 140m is 512mb. i thought it's only 128?

sounds like it's related to the video graphic driver.

Maybe I'm just stating the obvious, but have you tried installing recent video drivers or running a diagnostic?

regarding the NVS 140M. it's actually 128 by default. it shares the system memory whenever necessary. mine's the same. i used to get confused like as well. so, rest assured your graphic memory is 128.

    i just reinstalled drivers.

when i ran the diagnostic, and it started the video testing part of the phase, the computer shutdown again.

Where have you taken the drivers? From NVidia or Lenovo?

My T61 also has this problem. and now getting worse. i can't enter bios setup. because its always shut off before enter or some seconds after enter bios.
I try new gpu driver, bios ver, etc from lenovo site.
    but everything unsolved.

What, if any, changes did you make to the system before this started happening? Or did it do this straight out of the box? If it was a problem out of the box, you may have a hardware failure.
