Just a couple of things that hit me...

1.) With the wifi card, are you sure it is seated properly in the PCI slot? Do you have a driver for the card? You might need to use it and not depend on the one that XP provides. Another though, try add new hardware from the control panel and see if it picks up your card then.

2.) As for the jummpyness of the window while moving it. Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? If not, download and install them.

ThinkPad BIOS contains a whitelist of wireless cards it will use. The whitelist only contains the wireless adapters available with the system. Therefore, even if you buy an IBM brand 802.11g card from a T41 to replace the 802.11b card in a T30, the BIOS will not let the card run.

T30 only came with 11b cards. If you want to upgrade to faster speeds, your only option is PCMCIA card.

Check the "show window contents while dragging" checkbox in Display Properties, Apperance Tab, Effects.
