I got the core 2 duo p8600 2.4 ghz on my t400, and im having problems with my cpu for the clock speed in which it won't operate at that speed, but if i set it to max performance or any power scheme, itll operate at 1.6 ghz. This is when the power adapter is plugged in.
However when its not plugged in, the power adapter at max performance, it'll operate at 2.4 ghz. In safe mode, either with or without power adapter itll also operated at 2.4 ghz.
Ive used cpu-z and rmclock to check clock speed, and also use the wprime to calculate the time it took to run that test, and there was a difference with the clock speed.
Tired reformating with the recovery as well as bios upgrade, so wonder if theres a way in vista to maybe make the cpu to operate like its not plugged in, but actually plugged in so i can have it operate at 2.4 ghz since i can't figure out whats causing the problem.
ALso, i know that it won't get to 2.4 ghz since the multiplier stays at 6x and never goes to 9x when plugged in. I can use rmclock to force it to go to 9x, but i rather not go about that method, since it messes with the power schemes already...
