    the machine is fine
but every 30 seconds or so while im listening to music, it will lag.
the sound goes like into slow-mo..and its not just winamp, all sound (like an alert) will lag. for example, when i get that "my virus database has been updated", it will lag.

    im running windows XP.

Have you done the usual checks? Checked services running, brought up the task manager and sort by reads/writes/CPU (try each of them in turn) and see what jumps to the top when the lag happens? Checked your event log to make sure there aren't any errors/warnings?

I had this issue earlier and it was because of running out of RAM. Did you try closing all applications in system tray and then set your notebook to high performance and play an mp3?
