My T400 screen is flickering every few seconds. (the display shakes horizontally). Also, decreasing the screen brightness makes it worse (i.e the shaking lasts longer). Appreciate any suggestions.

I have the exact same problem with my T400, decreasing brightness makes the problem worse (increase flickering).

I have integrated graphics, all drivers and BIOS updated.

appreciate any help! does the screen needs replacing??

Just got back from abroad and now it is working fine for a week now (one day there was some flicker when on battery but was ok once I plugged in)

    My Display:
42T0495 42T0496 14.1 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU Yes

    Possible causes:
    1) While abroad I was using 240V and the problem was worse there. Improved the 2nd day after I got back?
    2) Due to shaking - took it with me on a african safari. Maybe a cable is loose?

I sent my laptop to Lenovo due to flickering issue. They're replacing LCD and LCD cable. Costs $270 w/o warranty for X200. Fortunately, I have 3 year warranty so my laptop is covered.

Will update once I receive the unit back.

I have another HP laptop out of warranty that does this too (not being used). This seems to be okay at max brightness. But lowering brightness seems to make this laptop flicker.
