Hello!
I just bought a UK T400, nm51ruk . It's a great machine! One problem is that It came with the SD-card reader and I need to use a cardbus sound card. Is it possible to remove the SD card reader to allow a cardbus card to be plugged in? Anyone done it? There wasn't a cardbus option for the p9500 CPU version of this machine in the UK, where we can't do custom builds.
I'm using Linux and lspci shows this:
15:00.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c476 II (rev ba)
and
15:00.2 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 21)
which might suggest that the SD card reader is plugged into a cardbus slot and (maybe) can be removed.
cheers
Matthew

Well you can always remove anything, but the problem is plugging in the sound card. I'm sure if you crack open the laptop you will see a way to remove the reader, but you might have to make a custom connector to hook your card up.
Try to find out the part number for the SD card reader and google it, maby you will get some information about the connection and it will be as simple as plug and play provided that you can get the drivers to work. -
I have the opposite problem... my T400 came with no card reader included, the left site near the front is an open gap, what do I need to buy in order to place it in that gap?
