    t400 t9550 & Q9100

    can my t400 t9550 change into q9100 or qx9300
    i wanna extremely upgrade my t400 :tongue:
    my t400 already has two 128GB SSD inside i want it more faster

    No, the T400 only supports P- and T-series Montevina processors.

    so even q9100 its for socket p (479) & GM45 its still not compatible? did anyone tested it before?

    No, it will not work. The Q9100 draws 45W, while the T400 mobo will only take 25W and 35W processors. Besides, the BIOS does not support the processors as well. And, even if you magically got the T400 to boot with a Q9100 by somehow overcoming the above obstacles, the Q9100 would put out too much heat for the T400's cooling system to handle.

    no...25w/35w/45w refers to the Thermal design power, or tdp, not power draw

    that means the cpu will release up to 25/35/45w of heat

    if it release 45 w of heat, then the power consumption would greater than 45 w, since not all of the electrical motive force would be converted to heat.

    yea i know...i'm just saying the "Q9100 draws 45W" statement is wrong :p

    so q9100 is fine but it'll get extremely hot (power supply&CPU)
    if i get a better supply will the supply over heat problem solve?(mine is already 90w)
    i guess t400 can support q9100 they're almost the same

    you could try it, if you don't care about wasting money or time. Obviously, you would be voiding the warranty.
