Just started getting this error a few days ago, gotten it about three times now.
Windows virtual memory error, I have 2 gigs and am running XP, I highly doubt I should have any memory problems. Never got this problem on any of my other pcs.

Virtual memory is actually a file on your disk drive that is used if stuff needs to be unloaded from main memory to make way for a currently running process. Try running a disk check to see if there's anything wrong with your HD.
-
Or the memory thats involved. If not the disk run the memory checker that is a part of vista. But be warned that if it is a memory error that you'll have to run the checker for as much time as the system is the old before you can make an authoritative statement on that memory being bad assuming that the error occurs at the same rate.

If you want to check your memory, download and burn a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD and run memtest86+ for a few hours, should throw up anything untowards.
-
yeah not running vista so I guess I should run the program that mrjohn posted about. will do overnight and get back to you guys tomorrow.
-
ran memtest, found no errors, no idea what to do next
-
You still need to run chkdsk to see if there are any issues with your hard drive, as that is where your virtual memory resides. Beyond that, when you see the error, bring up Task Manager (right-click on the taskbar) and look for any processes that show a huge amount of memory usage.

Check disk came out clean also, ran it several times. So I guess I just gotta wait for the error message again, nothing else to do now?
-
A couple of things have not ruled out; It looks like running the image laborusly has. The image itelf being made has not been tested.
