Sorta regret the $20 option on not adding the bluetooth.

Is there a way to add the built in bluetooth?

If not, I guess it is not that a super huge issue because you can always get a usb dongle.

Yes you can. Search lenovo bluetooth module. If you cant find it, go to the Lenovo factsheet and find the part name; then go to Lenovo support and find the part number.

Do you know if you get a new sticker/light for the front activity display?

I kind-of wish that I'd added it. I don't have a use for it right now (my notebook mouse has a tiny little USB adapter), but I keep having this sinking feeling that I'll regret not having gotten it.

    dongles are a pain.

Check out the T400 hardware maintenance manual (do a search) - it shows how to get to where the BT card goes. Possible to add after the fact but you're removing the screen bezel. No idea if non-BT systems include the antenna assembly though.

The manual does show the part number for the Bluetooth Daughter Card 2.1 as 42T0969 if that helps locate the part.

I know the feeling -- made that mistake on my previous laptop and for the first few months no big deal, but I grew to regret it. Finally found the board and cable for that Compaq laptop and swore I've never make that mistake again.

I'm in a similar situation. I'm wondering if anyone here has added a bluetooth module to a to the T400 after the fact? How hard is it? Besides the module are there any other parts you need? I'm thinking about installing one myself.

Have you looked at the T400 Hardware Maintenance Manual?

It spells it out as clearly as anything.
