I was looking for help at the forum with problems of noise (most likely related to CPU) that I've been having with my new 400s. I finally persuaded Lenovo to give me my money back - in full, for they couldn't fix it.
Now I am thinking of buying again 400s, or it's updated version, 410s.
What is actually the main difference between the two? (apart from a differenent processor and graphics..I am thinking of buying the cheapest 410s..would cost me 1250USd with the presidentsday discount).
Also, why does Lenovo not sell 400s on its official webpage?
Has anyone heard of noise issues with 410s?
    thanks for your help again,
    Christina

lenovo does not sell the t400s because it is an older model that they do not manufacture anymore
you've really hit on the main difference between the two - system hardware
physically, they are going to be the same, really

no one has announced they've actually gotten their hands on a t410s yet, so we can't say anything about noise yet

Really, I was buying t400s as something that was still rather new....i.e. in late December. Now you tell me that it's a line they don't seel anymore?

when a car manufacturer starts selling their 2010 models, they don't make the 2009 models anymore do they? :D

Wilse, Volkswagen's Skoda Octavia kept on producing their older as well as the new lines; price differentiated the two. And the production of Fabia was not stopped with the more successful Octavia either.

My impression is the processor is better on the T410s along with a better camera. Was there dual thinklights on the T410s or am I smoking something?

The improved processor and IGP are the only differences of note.

That was in a Photoshopped "leaked image" preceding the launch of the T410, T510, and T410s. There is only one Thinklight.

the fabia and the octavia is not in the same product line. one does not replace the other, so obviously "the production of Fabia was not stopped with the more successful Octavia"

that's like saying "the production of X200 was not stopped with the more successful T400". they're different product lines.

skoda, however, do STOP producing the 2009 fabia or octavia when the 2010 fabia or octavia is launched. dealers still sell the 2009 models, but only while stock lasts. no "new" 2009 fabias or octavia's are produced. (even if it's just a facelift, it's still a new "year" model)

    same for computers.

You are forgetting the switchable graphics that will be offered sometime soon. Thats going to be rather significant.

that's also why i nearly cried when i heard that switchable graphics are going into the t410s

i feel like an x300 owner (in the same way how the x301 came out very very shortly afterwards, like the t410s)
