Hi there,
Does anyone have the manufacturer install cd's for a thinky t40p with sp2 already slipstreamed? Ever since installing the upgrade to sp2 over my original install (sp1 + patches), my USB ports stopped operating at full speed (ie. <11mbps tested with both an ipod, and external usb hd), and my ethernet port will no longer connect at a gigabit speeds (only 100mbps). The weird thing is, the device manager doesn't report any problems or anything- everything seems just fine.
At any rate, I called IBM and asked them for a new set of CD's, and the guy told me that I'd have to fork over $45 for a new set since my warranty expired (which is bollux, if anything they should be offering updated factory recovery images as downloadable isos). If anyone can help, I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks.

Have you seen this article on how to make your own?

rpd30, thanks for the recommendation, but the problem I'm facing is that I already have a seemingly fine configuration (ie. no errors/warnings reported in the device manager), but for some crazy reason, my ports aren't running at the speeds they should be. This is why I'm looking for the factory recovery discs (since the install from IBM's factory recovery image seems to have everything worked out hardware-wise).
Anyways, if I find a solution to this problem, I'll post back. -
I didn't realize IBM updated the factory recovery cd's for older models.
I would think that any updated drivers for winxp sp2 would also be on
their web site for download, (but you probably tried that).
Try booting windows in safe mode. That disables a lot of software which
might help narrow things down.
I googled around out of curiousity, and I saw that it may be:
- a hardware problem
- related to the bios/firmware version
- related to a specific hotfix KB839645
t40p ibm restoration cd's (with xp sp2)
