    Hi all,
I've had my t410s for a year now. I never had any issues with it before. It runs smoothly and all. But in the past few days, it started overheating (80-90 Celsius degrees).
    I have TPFC running.
    What should i do?

First check the CPU utilisation on the Processes tab in Task Manager. There may be some broken process that running at 100% CPU load.

What CPU fan speed is TPFC reporting for >80C?

John, thanks for replying. I checked Task Manager and none of them is running 100% CPU load. I am guessing that I need to reclean my thinkpad so I ordered a toolkit.
Yes, the temperature is from what the TPFC reports. And it hasnt been a week since my t410s started acting this way. It doesnt freeze either. It still runs pretty smoothly.

Check your ambient temperature and make sure that the heatsink isn't clogged with dust.

kirayamato, my room temperature has been in similar range since mid-june: Mid 70s-90s. But my laptop only started acting up this past week. Also, i am outside of my house for the most part of the day at work, in the library, etc ... where there is always A/C

my colleagues's T410s with Optimus won't go past 85 degrees when stressed tested using Prime95.

Mid 90 seems to be too high.

Did you update the bios by any chance?

I use the T410s myself and had the same issue after having it for about a year (and using it very heavily), cleaning it out did wonders so once you get the toolkit and are able to get some of that dust out you'll probably see some good results.

    update:
I haven't received the toolkit yet but i recently researched on extending battery life. I decided that i should take off my battery while on AC. And surprising, my thinkpad temperature drops down to 48 C.

Of course, I know i will still need to clean it anyway. But wow!
