had a t42 that was having problems so did a hard drive test.. during the hard drive test it had a lot of bad sectors and said to repair.. got a new hard drive and used drive snapshot to clone the old drive onto the new drive.. installed the new drive and it started to boot into windows then went black.. shut if off and restarted and it shows the IBM start screen during boot then goes black.. even tried to install the old hard drive and it does the same thing.. any ideas? it was working fine before hard drive started to fail.. this is a brand new hard drive

Can you boot via Hiren's boot CD or something?

ok.. it wouldnt boot from cd or anything.. so i removed the new hard drive and memory and checked everything looked fine so i put them back and i got it to boot up and it rebooted a few times.. but now after shutting down it doesnt even show the IBM boot screen.. its all black.. and i dont hear/feel the hard drive even spinning up now..
