    t420 + msata and linux compatibility

    Hi guys,

    Anybody knows if msata will be compatible with linux?

    And other question: when t420 + msata will be released?

    The mSATA SSD should look like a normal SATA device to the OS, so no special driver necessary. But i haven't heard any linux install report on a mSATA Thinkpad yet, probably because they aren't available yet ;-)

    Apparently the T420 has been awarded the status of " Certified on Ubuntu PC(x86)" furthermore there even seems to be a special image of Ubuntu available from Lenovo:

    "A special image of Ubuntu is available via the computer manufacturer designed for this specific computer. It takes advantage of hardware features for these systems and may include proprietary software and codecs. Please contact the computer manufacturer for access to that specific Ubuntu operating system version"

    mSata isn't mentioned but from other posts from people who actually installed it, it's just another drive recognized by BIOS at startup.

    Oh yeah? I dare you to configure any thinkpad on the Lenovo page with a mSata SSD :p
