I bought a new 16gb kit 1600, however running at 664mhz. I think I read that I need an older bios (i'm using v1.44). Any pointers and how to install it?

I dunno about the BIOS thing, but it looks like the Sandy Bridge memory controller only supports up to 1333MHz. Here are the specs for the CPU in your signature: ARK | Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.90 GHz)

    "Memory Types" says "DDR3-1066/1333"

And remember those are "DDR" frequencies, so it's double the actual frequency. So 1333/2 = 667 MHz. So 664 sounds about right.
