I have the 1600x900 lcd for my t420. it seems that someone stepped on the screen as there is a small hairline fracture in the screen and also nothing shows up, its part black, part white, part gray. if a pic is needed to diagnose this problem I will take one and post.

i found this link on ebay

    LENOVO THINKPAD T420 T420s 14.0 LED LCD SCREEN WXGA+ MATTE 1600 x 900 EXACT P/N | eBay

havent heard back yet but would like to know if this is the correct replacement part. lenovo said to send it in and see if it is repaired for free. if not i expect a large bill and will prob want to do it myself.

also i have the t420 hmm but for the replacement part there is a huge part about removing tons of other items first. i only need to replace the screen it seems not anything else.

i checked out this video on youtube, is this all accurate for my machine as well, or at least almost in terms of the minimum number of required steps for replacement

Lenovo ThinkPad L420 Laptop Screen Replacement Procedure - YouTube

in conclusion does anyone happen to have a t420 lcd replacement video. thanks alot for any help.

Hit the training and support site. There's a link in the sticky. If the T420 isn't there, pick another T series notebook. They don't re-invent the wheel. Good Luck.

    great link thanks alot.

    follow up question:

i have a t400 but am thinking of swapping out the hd from the t420 into the t400 until I get the screen fixed. will this cause any problems driver wise in both the t400 during the time waiting for screen and the t420 when I pop it back into that machine?

Try it and see. This probably depends on the OS though. (Linux installs will likely cope with it just fine, but this used to be a problem area for Windows back when I used it...)
