just letting everyone know the t420s just became available on US's family/friends website, but for a pretty high base price of $1740. i've been waiting for this for a while.. but i'm going to have to wait a bit longer for the price to drop. how long did it take the t410s to reach the $1200's on the family/friends site?

ps- it's great to see the 1600x900 res screen (could've been 1600x1000 right? as everyone has moaned about 1000 times already)

This model is $1274 from costcentral. It is the cheapest preconfig right now.

There's something messed up with the CTO pricing because the pre-configured models are way, way cheaper - which is not the case with the T420.

They just dropped the prices on the T420s. It's now about $200 more than the T420.

    I just ordered a T420s with:
    Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (2.5GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz DDR3) Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
14.0 HD+ (1600 x 900) LED Backlit Antiglare Display, Mobile Broadband Ready Intel HD Graphics 3000
    2 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    720p HD Camera
250 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
    DVD Recordable
Express Card Slot & 4 in 1 Card Reader
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery - 66+
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (2x2 AGN)

I ordered the base RAM because I already have 8GB of DDR3-1333 that I purchased for my T400 (the 4GB it had originally will be going back in the T400). I also have a 160GB x25-m G2 SSD (7mm once I remove the spacer) that will go in the T420s.

The total before tax was $1124 (after 10% off code LOGICBUY10). That officially makes this the most expensive ThinkPad I've purchased.

With my identical configuration between a T420 and T420s the price difference is $270.00. That is with the 10% coupon and the additional 5% off offer the site has.

Difference is with both systems having 3 yr warranty and accidental coverage as well.

Not worth the price difference, so I'm either going with the X220 or T420 model. Wish the pricing of the X220 would come out soon. ;)

Just for the heck of it, I priced a T520 and its $72.00 less then the T420s model and it has everything the same with the exception the T520 has the much better 1920x1080 screen.

Looks like they just released the T420/520 w/ the Nvidia discrete graphics option today but not for the T420s. Any ideas on when that the T420s will be available with Nvidia graphics?

What does "Mobile Broadband Ready" mean? Just insert my SIM card or does it require any extra modules?

Can't decide between the T420s with discreet Nvidea graphics or the X220T. It'll be nice to have an IPS screen and pen input for photoshop but i wonder how often i'd use it.

Apparently just slip it in. The antenna is already in the monitor.

Also the I7 chip equipped model is not yet up, but that (dual core) will be well over $2,000. A lot of money to save a lb or 2.

Hope this clears this up.... ;)

First drop box photo shows the 5% offering in the upper right corner for the T420 ThinkPad

Second drop box photo shows towards the lower right side the price with the 5% off

Third drop box photo shows both the added 10% coupon and 5% price on the T420.

Used the link icon above the first time and now I placed the photo bucket link again onto this box without using the link icon to see if that helps.

Still no dice with Firefox and IE. Try logging out of you account and see if the link works for you. It seems that's the problem even though I see /Public/ in the url.

Take this with a grain of salt, please, but when I chatted with Lenovo rep on their website she gave me April 19th as when: T420s can be configured with NVIDIA, x220 & x220t can be purchased. I don't know what other dates are flying around :D

"Mobile Broadband Ready" means it has the antennas and SIM card slot. You still need to add a WWAN card (like the Gobi).
