I upgraded my T500 (integrated graphics only, XP pro) to ssd and it works great. Fan is almost always off, and there is no HDD noise. Yet I notice a very high-pitched beep, barely audible, and almost uninterrupted. It seems to me that the source of it is located under the left side of the keyboard.

I thought it might be the notorious CPU chirp. I've tried to disable CPU (and PCI bus) power management, but the noise remains.

I also did some hearing tests and it seems I can hear to 19 KHz, so though very-high pitched, this noise still should be audible to most people with undamaged hearing.

What is this noise and how to get rid of it?
