i have had my t500 for a few month. i love it but some very minor problem.

after a few month of usage, my batter lock switch just popped out. it just fell out. i can put it back in but it's not very stable. I'm wondering where and how i can get a replacement for it. or what even that part is called.

second, i remember a lot of complaints about the keyboard. at first, my keyboard was fine but now it feels a lot looser. are they still shipping the x61 keyboards to people that want to replace it with the solid ones?

    thanks a bunch

If you feel your keyboard is not up to par, you can explain the situation to a Lenovo support tech, and chances are, they'll send you a new keyboard. I would bet, however, that it will be one of the newer perforated versions, not the old T61/T60 versions (the X61 uses a different keyboard).

    1) you mean the lock on the battery or the case itself? This should be covered under warranty, provided that you did not damage it yourself.

    2) you could try to call them and see what happens.

    thanks!

my bad, i meant the T61 keyboard. i'll give them a call.

and what fell off was the battery lock tab that you have to push to remove the battery. right now i have to pry it with a pen or pencil to get the battery off. I have been looking through the lenovo manuals and i can;t seem to find the party number. I don't know how it broke, i just found something on the floor one day and i realized that it was a piece of my thinkpad...

There is no separate part number for the battery release latch. It's part of the whole battery assembly. If you had your system for less than a year, they'll most likely just send you a new battery in exchange for your old one (batteries only have a year warranty from Lenovo).

BTW, I've seen that latch fall off before. Had a user where I work who had it fall off of their T61's battery. They never complained about it, and I only found out about it after we had upgraded them to a T400. :/

    thanks digidoc

I have two batteries and i switch them out alot so it's a hassle to do it without a latch. and it wasn;t a big deal, before it would fall off and i would just pop it back in and it worked but now it won't stay so i have to do the "pen-prying off battery" every time.

I'm gonna give them a call.

and for the keyboard is it possible to get the new t510 (just as i typed the "t" the 5 button popped up) keyboard for the t500.

and i also wanted to make sure i got the FRU# right

    for the T61 it's FRU # 42T3209
    and for the T510 it's FRU # FRU# 45N2141

thanks a lot guys for all your help.
