    t510 - how to disable usb power when in standby mode?

    when i go into standby, my usb powered harddrives are still running. in my lenovo power options i already have usb power always on turned off. what am i missing?

    Just a shot in the dark, but have you gone into the BIOS and checked the settings there? I know my T400 has the option there to switch powered USB on and off, even though it doesn't really advertise the capability.

    yes its disabled but power is still on

    If you look in Power Manager (the most recent updated version 3.xx), under Global Power Settings there is a box to check or uncheck titled "Enable Always on USB". Maybe you could try playing around with that?

    Edit: Sorry, I did not see that in your post you had already tried this. Apologies.

    it has to be something with the configuration and not the laptop, i had this same problem with my last laptop and it was a hp
