I have a thinkpad t510 with the hd+ screen (1600x900) and nvidia discrete gpu. When I switch resolutions (startup, games, projector etc.) my brightness keeps going down. When I hit the brightness down button it jumps back up to 1 less than max. I just noticed it today and have had my thinkpad for almost 2 months now. What is causing this issue?

Double check your power settings. I had this happen on my X301 when I first got it. It was for some strange reason going back to it's default power setting.
