I am considering a t60 with an sxga+ screen and was wondering what the nit rating is. Is the screen brighter and clearer than say the xga. Also are the fonts and screen resolution large enough for people over 50 to see. I recently looked at the wsxga+ in the 15.4 screen and the text was so small even though shortcuts on the screen were fine.Ive heard lots of negativity about screens and am considering a 14.1 inch sxga+ screen on a t60P.Any input would be helpful before I jump.

I believe the nit rating for the XGA and SXGA+ screens are the same, 150 nits. I have the SXGA+ screen on my R60 which uses the same panels as the T60. My one major complaint about my R60 is the panel is relatively dim compared to other notebooks. At the top settings it looks decent, but on some of the lower brightness levels, it's more difficult to use.

I have an SXGA+ model. The screen seems fine to me. When plugged in, I use the top brightness setting, but when working off battery power, I can turn it down to half brightness or less, and still be OK.

The T60 screen is usuable, but not very bright. If it's one of the few monitors you use, then you get used to it actually.

But if you put it side by side with other monitors, you'll definitely see the difference.

I have a TMD SXGA+ panel in my T60p, it's as nice as the LG/Philips WUXGA in my T61p. It's far more brighter than my old T41p. When I got the T60p, I was impressed by the screen. So, if you get the TDM, you will be glad about brightness but colors are a not very crisp.
