My wife purchased her old computer from work. I reformatted it and put Windows XP on it. I have been able to clear all the device manager ? Marks except 3. No luck not a great computer genius just trying to get it fixed.

    Device Manager looks like this

? Modem device on High Definition Audio Bus

    ? SM Bus Controller

? Unknown (no additional hardware has ever been installed, so I am in the dark on this one)

    Lenovo T60

    Product ID: 6369 6RU

Intel's chipset utility was run and it gave me this as the chipset on the computer.

Mobile Intel 945 GM/GMS/940GML Express Chipsets or Intell 945 GT Express Chipset.

Do you have a copy of the SWTools folder? If you're running XP SP3 you should be able to download the modem driver and install it. My guess for the unknown one would be the TPM chip.

Thanks for time and repley up front. I have to admit that as far as computers go my brain power is limited at best. I do my best but there is so much to understand and figure out.

With that said I am not sure what tools folder you are are talking about.
I am running XP service pack 3
And I am still unsure what drivers it is that I need.

I have loaded a modem driver that was spoused to be the right one from Lenovo's website.
Plus I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but the wireless networking will not work either. I was guessing that maybe some of the missing drivers might have something to do with that.

Thanks for helping the mentally weak at mind. LOL

Well I do feel better anyway. I now know what the tools folder is thanks to ZaZ thanks. It opened and checked the system and told me the same thing that the device manager was saying. It did find the drivers for both the unknown driver ? mark and for the "Modem device on High Definition Audio Bus"

The ? mark for the SM bus still remains and still have had no luck curing that one yet.

And being realy dense and slow I found the switch on the front of the notebook to turn the wireless funtion on. DUH. First laptop ever please excuss my ignorance.

Burn the SWTools folder onto a disc and let device manager search the disc for the driver.
