I am about to order an IBM T60 but it is very important that it gets delivered before May 18th. The estimated shipping date is may 11th. Does IBM/Lenovo have a good reputation about sticking to it's delivering dates?.

If I change the screen from wxga to wsxga+tft the shipping estimate goes up to may 18th, do you think it will take that much more?

Lenovo is known for their lengthy and often late shipping. Searching around a little in this forum will lead to you more topics on the issue. If time is an issue and you need a Thinkpad, consider buying a pre-build model from Lenovo or a third party.

Unfortunately, I would not trust an estimated shipment date from Lenovo... I believe they changed mine three times before sticking to it...

That's bad news. So even if they say 1-2weeks, I shouldn't trust them? Is a preconfigured laptop from their site any better, or should I just stick with a reseller? Could you recommend me a good reseller?

The problem with buying at NewEgg, Buy.com, etc. is that there is no possibility for returning your notebook should you decide you don't want it. You'll probably get it cheaper on the internet since you won't have to pay tax like buying it from Lenovo. If you are committed to getting a ThinkPad, buying on the Internet is probably the best way.

If the ship date is the 11th, I'd say the chances you'll get it by then are pretty good, but it is not a forgone conclusion. You could order then cancel if you have to if it doesn't ship by a certain date.

I'd say it's up in the air. I've heard horror stories about delayed shipping for several weeks. However, on the bright side, I got mine in 2.5 weeks - 2 weeks before the estimated ship date. There have also been laptops that have been stuck in customs in KY for a few days, whereas mine did not even go there. The most popular reseller is Buy.com from what I gather from this forum.

Oh yeah, mine is a CTO ordered from Lenovo.
