This started happening recently. Whenever access connections is installed, it shows my WLAN radio as being powered off. I toggle the manual radio power switch on the side to make it recognize the radio as on, but it doesn't work. The only time the software recognizes the hardware as being on is when access connections is not installed. I'm stumped, any ideas? thanks

a new problem has evolved from this: I tried to reinstall the wireless drivers but for some reason they aren't doing anything. There is a device called "ethernet controller" that I cannot find drivers for.

What did you do to solve it?

Glad to hear it's working. I have wireless broadband and a linksys router that I'm using with my laptop, second wireless connection. I seem to be able to connect to the linksys router okay but it keeps looking for the broadband wireless signal and failing -- unless someone is on the linksys network, or recently on the linksys hardwire network. Pretty frustrating.
