I placed my order on tuesday the 19th, and got it on the 21st. How's that for a record? I am in Toronto, so once they release the system, it arrives same day. but still, looking at all the so called "shortages of inventory" and "shipping delays" i feel pretty hot. =). so tip: everyone in canada can expect faster ship times. also, on visaperks.ca, a fully loaded t61 is only 1399, a phenominal deal. this is incredible. a bit more than the macbook getting you a t61? What's going on with pricing. thinkpads are so cheap now its amazing, and yet quality and power is sitll up there.

The T61 in Canada are pre-configure mean it required no build time which means no delay. The only ones that I know are customizable are in the US.

I am also in Canada and ordered a T61 yesterday. However I went for the 17U (2 GB RAM / 160 GB HD / Vista Ultimate) instead of the 16U like you did.

The order confirmation mail I received includes the following:

"We have placed your order in priority sequence and we anticipate your order
will be shipped within 3-4 weeks."

Did you get the same thing? I'd rather get the 16U next week than the 17U next month...

Yes, and it depends on whether they are in stock, expecting a shipment imminently or not.
    You can call and ask.
Whether in Canada or the US.
They also have or will have preconfigs (eg. TopSeller program) in the US not just in canada.

I also live in Toronto, and recieved mine 2 days after placing the order, but I got it for 1499, and I paid with visa card too :(
is there a way to claim that extra 100$ discount?

no you have to get the discount at time of purchase.
so you'd have to return it (if possible) and re-buy. LOL
If you do so, i could get you that 17U for $1449 , or the $16u for $1349 for a limited time. pm me.

Yep if they have it in stock. Somebody came in a car and hand-delivered it to you, right?

Wondering what's your impression of the screen on that unit? (and what did you have before to compare it with)

There is really no shortage of items in stock. Just delay in customized orders. I know I can get one pre-built overnight....so this isn't that big of a deal.

The authorized distributors will stock up the T61, that's why you got it so fast.
