So the my t61 is coming into. I am having doubts now after reading the negatives about it. Should I ship it back and get a refund for the m1330?

The M1330 is a pretty spiffy notebook.

As someone who has the T61, I advise you to go with the M1330, strickly off the innovation that that machine has, lighter weight, slide-in optical drive, multimedia controls.

OTOH, if you're not using these machines predominately for personal use, the T61 is the choice.

BTW, my choice is w/o consideration of price, and I believe the 1330 is considerably higher.

You can get the xps cheaper? I don't think so unless you have a high percent off dell coupon. I configured an XPS that matches the T61 I ordered. My T61 was 1200 about without shipping and tax. The XPS is 1574. That's more than 300 dollars more! I hope you're not comparing it to the T60p because it's not the spec equivalent of it. Also I didn't even throw in optins like LED panel or improved graphics card. Just spec for spec.

Dell university discount is like max 5%. That means you save 50 or so dollars. That's still 250 dollars more expensive. Besides that lenovo has the same thing. (I know it's 5% because I logged into Dell University through my school).

In that case, I think your decision is crystal clear.

Not sure what Dell discount amounts to, but with the Lenovo EPP 15% + fatwallet, an equally equipped comparison comes out to $1699 for the XPS, and $1150 for me, not incl tax. I like the XPS, just not $500 more.

Even w/o EPP & FW, the price is 1699 vs 1434.

For the 1699, I'd be tempted to look at MBP as well.

The mbp and x1330 are completely different machines. One has a gaming graphics car and is a lightweight deskop replacement and the other has a low end graphics card and is an ultraportable. It's apples and organes.

I think people should stop judging what laptop to buy based on the form factor you want, not what just comes out and looks uber. That's hasty. What if ASUS released a sexy 10" ultraportable tomorrow? Would you go for that? Even though it's only 10"? Pick your approximate screen size first THEN choose your laptop.

the dell out of the box will probably run like a champ after removing some bloatware, the lenovos need alot of work, from my experience atleast. Mine is as smooth as butter now though.

I'm not sure why people are calling the m1330 an ultraportable. Check the dimension specs yourself:

    t61: Width: 335 mm (13.2 in) x Depth: 237 mm (9.3 in) x Height: 27.6 to 31.9 mm (1.09 to 1.26 in)
    m1330: Dimensions 12.5" x 9.4" x 0.87" - 1.33"

The m1330 and the t61 are not all that different in size. I personally wouldn't consider anything over 12" an ultraportable.
