I'm quite sure that my thoughts are louder than my speakers... would it be possible to somehow replace the speakers with another pair?

    If so, which ones?

This is the 1 thing I don't like about the laptop. Other than that, it's great, but its oh so very quiet.

I dont think the speakers need to be replaced, there just needs to be a means of increasing the gain.

For some reason I've noticed that theres a "break in" period in T61 speakers, they get louder after they've been used for a bit.

I'm not a 100% sure about this though, it could just be my imagination or the different areas I've used my notebook.

I've watched probably 10-15 movies on my laptop on full volume, and probably 8 seasons of various shows on half.

I think I've broken it in since the speakers have played for more than ~50 hours.

Is the notion of changing them even conceivable or should I just forget about and live on?

Get either headphones or external speakers in my opinion, you'll probably kill your warranty trying to rip them out.
