Startup,BIOS, and OS itself have double vision and green/red/yellow lines, though picture is clear when connected to external monitor. Randomly came back for 3 hours, now double again. Must be a hardware issue, with graphics card or motherboard I'm guessing? I checked for a loose ribbon to the screen, which wasn't the case.

I can't seem to find anyone with same symptoms online. Any recommendations? The warranty is out, so I'm not sure what kind of options I have.

    Thanks for your consideration

    Mitch

I don't have a camera around, but I think I have found the root of the problem. After much research it does sound exactly like the recent nvidia failures. The articles in cnet explain it well (google cnet nvidia problem).

There hasn't been much linking this problem to thinkpads but I'm positive that's what I'm experiencing. I use the laptop for high-throughput data analysis and the heat issue has risen steadily in the past year. If I keep it cool it works, but I can hardly watch a youtube video now without it crashing.

Also, Lenovo shows no signs of extended warranties to fix it...

I just got my 8600GT desktop card repaired for the third time is four months. My warranty is out in February. I asked for a different card even if it wasn't as good as 8600GT. MSI declined.
