People keep saying the t61 screen is too dark. How dark? Dark enough that makes browsing, playing games, and watching movies annoying? Or dark as in not as bright as the macbook?

The people who are saying that probably haven't even seen one. If you are used to a glossy screen, a matte screen will never be as bright.

You know, a Macbook's screen has 300 nits brightness while T60 has 180 nits.
    It is really darker.

If you have a Best Buy around you, try and take a look at one of the T60's they might have on display.

It does seem noticeably darker and less vibrant than most of the other screens around (and of course, it is also a matte screen, so most of the other notebooks people are going to compare it with are glossy screens).

But yeah, at least from the T60 I've played around with, the screen is darker, but still useable, and perfectly fine I think for the kinds of stuff people buy T60's for.

I use my R60 only for programming but sometimes when the room is too dark or too lit, my eyes really hurt. I wanted to move to T61 but I am really confused. I do not want another dim screen.

According to Lenovo's tabook PDF file, the T61 with WXGA+ is 200 nits:

    14.1" (358.1mm) WXGA+ (1440x900) color, 200 nits, 16:10 aspect ratio,
    300:1 contrast ratio, anti-glare

    WXGA is 180 nits.

I also heard Paul Thurott talking about the T61 in a recent Windows Weekly podcast and he was very impressed with it. He's apparently had it for a while and was excited to finally be able to talk about it.

Mine shows ship date of June 7. Hope it ships before. :)

is it common for lenovo to ship before the estimated ship date, because mine is estimated to ship 5/28?

Many people say that they do ship early, but I spoke to Lenovo today about the T61s and they told me that they are shipping very close to estimated ship dates because they are new models.
