    t61 xp screen flicker at start up

    Hi, I have a T61 Intel Core 2 T8300 2.4 GHz and Intel GM965 Express Chipset. After a downgrade to XP Proffesional SP3 and having installed all XP drivers from lenovo web, before and after the windows start up password screen I get a flicker.

    I didn´t notice this with Vista. Also when I diseable the video driver and let the windows standard I don´t get the flicker at start up, but have another problem with the screen brightness when changing from battery to AC.

    How can I stop this flickers and this could harm the screen.

    from reading around... (i could be wrong)... but this flicker is due to it checking if you're connected to an external monitor or checking for the best resolution?

    I had the same issue with my T61. Solution: Go to msconfig and disable in the Startup tab:

    - The igfxtray process and
    - The igfxperson process

    restarting the laptop would result in no more flicker.

    I diseabled the igfxtray and igfxperson, now in the transition from the Windows Xp black screen to the windows log in it still flickers, the screen goes black for almost a second and after the log in it don´t flicker.

    Half the problem solve.
