I haven't kept up on the 64bit OS developments. Is Vista 64 fairly compatible with most drivers for the T61P? Thanks.

Do the Vista Ultimate DVD's include both the 32/64 bit versions?

No. They are totally separate distributions.

Vista Ultimate retail DVDs include both versions on seperate DVDs inside the box.
OEM DVDs are either 64 or 32 bit, but not both.

In the driver link that cougar provided, some drivers list 'Vista 64' versions, and some just list 'Vista' versions. Does one safely assume that if no 64 bit version is listed, the 'Vista' driver is for both 32 and 64 bit?

That's a good question and while I'm traditionally on the end-user side of the house in regrads to drivers I have to say that I thought that if you had a 64-bit OS you needed a completely different driver otherwise hardware would be easier to move over and there wouldn't be so much fuss over the lack of driver support.

That being said, if there is only a 32-bit driver, what do you do then? I planned on installing Ultimate 64 onto my system just to take advantage of all the RAM that I ordered weeks after my laptop and is already here. :)

Sorry to revive this old topic. But say I have Vista x64 installed... If I install, say Crysis, and it doesn't take advantage of the 64bit processor directly, is there still some sort of advantage?

And is their still the disadvantage of a bunch of apps not working right? Basically, is x64 worth the plunge? When I get my t61p soon, I'll be installing Vista Ultimate (shipped with the Basic so I 'got' vista ultimate) so I'll have a clean slate. I'm just debating between which to put on 32/64
