(Hopefully this hasn't been covered in an earlier post - I did a search first and couldn't find anything.)

So I've ordered my T61p with just 1 GB RAM with the intent of upgrading it myself, and I have a few questions regarding compatibility. I feel comfortable doing the installation myself, but I just want to make sure I order the right kind. I know that I need PC2-5300 DDR2 SO-DIMMS 667 MHz with 200 pins. These are probably stupid questions, but please bear with me :)

1.) It wouldn't make sense to just order another 1 GB stick, would it? That's the cheapest way to get 2 GB total. Do both sticks have to be the same brand?

2.) Does brand matter much? I've heard conflicting answers on this. For example, this 1GB stick looks a little shady, right? What brands are recommended?

3.) Do the two sticks have to be the same speed? I'd like to go for a 3 GB configuration, but I can't find any 1.5 GB sticks. I'm not going to be able to put a 2 GB in one slot and a 1 GB in the other, right?

4.) What's the difference in buying a kit of two sticks and just buying two individual sticks? As in, wouldn't I be better off buying two of these than one of this (since it's cheaper to buy two of the first)?

I think that covers it for now. Thanks a lot for the help!

Edit: Oh, almost forgot. All these sticks I linked to ARE compatible, right? :)

If you don't plan on upgrading past 2GB, then yes, the best thing to do is just order another 1GB stick.

Well, if you're looking for high performance RAM, it's usually best to get a brand that uses Micron chips. For normal users it doesn't matter too much though.

It would probably best to get two sticks of the same speed. And yes, you could get a 1GB stick and a 2GB stick, that would work fine. If your laptop already comes with a 1GB stick, then you just need to buy an additional 2GB stick.
    There is no difference, really.

Yup, they appear to all be compatible.

It sounds like you are ready to order another 1 gig stick to replace the one that is already in there. Don't do that. The 1 gig stick in your laptop is fit to stay. If you want 2 gigs total order another 1 gig stick. If you want three gigs, order a 2 gig stick. You don't not have to match brands or memory size.
