    Is the t61p too hot to use on my lap when just browsing the web and doing other things like that.......not gaming......?

    The only time mine ever gets hot is if I'm playing intensive games like Oblivion, other than that it never gets hot and is perfect for lap usage. The cooling system is really incredible; all the heat goes where it should be, the top left vents.

    Seconded. nVidia's PowerMizer contributes significantly to heat management, clocking the GPU and VRAM down to a small fraction of their normal clock speed when they aren't under load. The laptop only heats up under sustained load, like from gaming.
