so i've been reading some other threads and looking up benchmarks for the t61p for a few days now. i know that the Quadro FX 570M is supposed to be for CAD work, 3d modeling, etc. and that the stock drivers are supposedly optimized for this type of work. i will most likely be using maya on mine, but i will also probably be getting drivers from laptopvideo2go because i've read these drivers are better for gaming and such (correct me if i'm wrong).

will using these drivers take away from performance in maya and other applications like this? i'm assuming it will work the same, but i just would like to know from other people who have possibly been through this already.

Synic, I'm doing the same thing (except ProE and Solidworks, a bit different) but I would like to possibly play some games in the future on here. I'll be checking back for someone's answer as well seeing as how I have no idea myself.

EDIT: I think I'll try to install CounterStrike Source, or any other games I might have lying around and playing them with the stock drivers + posting results. At least that way we could all get a general idea, and then possibly in the future I could upgrade (or someone else) the drivers and post the modded results.

from what i've read, the modded drivers on laptopvideo2go yield higher 3dmark scores. and the one modded driver found on here that makes the quadro seem like a geforce on the driver side of it produces even better scores. i could be a little wrong, but i'm pretty sure the tweaked drivers produce a slight increase in performance when gaming. i'm sure they dont punish CAD applications, but i don't know from experience. i think i might just skip testing out the stock drivers and go straight to the laptopvideo2go ones once i receive my laptop, and install half life2, doom, and world of warcraft (these are really the only games i have at the moment worth testing) and see how things are

Well that would work out perfectly. I could test out HL2, for example, with the stock drivers and you could test it out with the modded drivers and we could make a comparison thread.
