If you read my previous post about what I should get as a laptop.

I've basically decided on the T42 made by IBM, and have been looking into some deals offered to me as a student at Purdue.

There are literally hundreds of variations available to us, but I think I've found a winner.

I mirrored the page, so you don't need a password to access the GovConnection site and view this specific set-up.

It looks like a winner to me, my only question is... is 32MB of video enough? The models that have 64mb all have a 15" screen, which causes a loss of almost an hours battery time and adds 0.9 pounds to the wieght. Not to mention the added price and size of the unit as a whole.

I play some video games, and they require 64mb according tothe literature, but I know that DDR RAM works almost twice as fast as normal RAM... and it says that it's 32MB of DDR SDRAM video RAM

Any input? If I "Custom build" the system, it adds to the price.

If you aren't in a huge rush to get a laptop (as in could wait another month), you could get the T43 which solves all your problems.

I can wait another month. I'll admit, the idea of getting a new machine is really exciting and I have an urge to just go BUY BUY BUY so I can have a enw toy...

My problem with the T43's are as such:
*They only come with a 15" screen (as I understand) and they have a worse battery life
*They aren't as cheap as the T42 is. I know that's because they're new, but by the time they get down to the comparable price that the T42 is at now... then I "may as well wait until the T44 is out" or whatevere that next generation is.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

It does come in a 14" and I don't know how the battery life comparisons are being made, review units have just started to go out...we got ours yesterday.
