Does anyone know how to disable the beep sound on the T60? Whenever I close the lid or open it, I get a beep sound and have to relogin to Windows.

I'm not sure about you guys but I close/open the lid really often and if I don't have mute on, I startle everyone in my room.

I also would like to know if it's possible to delay the windows lock-out so I don't have to login every single time I close and open the lid.

    Any ideas?

You can disable the beeps in the BIOS. I think the options are under "Alarms" or something like that (away from my laptop atm).

Press F1 repeatedly when the computer starts up to enter the BIOS setup. You can disable the sounds there. If I am not mistaken, that option is under Config - Alarm - Disable Power Control Beep.

power manager (green battery on the taskbar at the bottom) --> global power settings --> uncheck 'beep when power state changes' and 'require password on standby resume'

you can also change some options in the power options. go into power options (right click desktop, properties, screen saver tab, power, advanced tab), and uncheck 'prompt for password when...', and you can make it so it 'does nothing' when you close the lid, if you want the computer to remain on when you do that.

You can also do it in device manager by showing hidden devices, going to non plug and play drivers, and disabling the "Beep" device.
