Quick question guys please. Anybody know what the apparently always on LED next to the USBs on the right hand side of the T61 indicates?

It probably indicates disk drive or USB activity.

I dont think so, as it is always on.
It seems like it means whatever is in the Ultrabay is active/on.

So you don't think it has anything to do with the USB port at all? Its on even with nothing plugged in. I was thinking maybe it meant plug in USB mouse here??? I searched the web for awhile and came up with nothing. The T61 will be a gift and I'd like to be able to explain why that 1 of the 3 USBs seems to have a lite.

It's an indicator light for the UltraBay. It's always on solid as long as there is a device in there and the system is either on or in standby mode. It goes off with the system power and hibernate.

OK, thanks guys. Seems kind of a waste tho as this one has the DVD burner in there and it's fairly obvious it is in fact there, and has its own lite when being used.

It doesnt indicate drive activity, it indicates whatever is in the Ultrabay slot is turned on.
I.E. - if there were a battery in there, the green light would be on, if there were a DVD burner in there, the green light would be on, if there were the Parallel/Serial port expansion bay in there, the green light would be on, regardless of activity of the particular device in the bay.

    Make sense?

Yeah, sort of. This was my 1st experience with a ThinkPad. I had it out of the box for a couple of weeks making sure everything worked and getting the preliminary setup/cleanup out of the way. The thing is a Cadillac compared to the laptops I'm used to. Back in the box now.
One day I'll get one for myself!

I thought, that it lets you to know when it's safe to take out somtething out of ultrabay. i.e. when laptop is turned off...
