    only going to be used for torrent at home, what should I get? x40?

    if you are not taking it out, just get a R60 or R61 of some flavour. A second hand one should only set you back around 300 to 400 AUD, try gumtree.com.au.

    The reason for this choice is that the R series has a superior cooling system, due to the larger cross section for the heatsink and the larger size for the fan, means that you can run it all day and without having to clean the heatsink every week.

    If you run your X40 all day, fan and heatsink could get jammed with lots of dirts.

    Also, the PATA 1.8 inch hdd on the X40 is not that reliable nor fast... which means you will have to use an external hdd (you probably have already planned that).

    But all in all if you are using the second laptop in home and for torrent, then use a R series laptop, preferably the R60 or R61 version.
