Hello i have a thinkpad a22m, i recently and finally fixed the broken screen it had, it was given to me about 4 years ago by a student, i have been trying to get this laptop to work, when i turn it on, i can boot into the bios and will stay on for hours, but as soon as i make it load windows it will shut down while loading windows(it has winxp installed), also i removed the hdd tried to boot a linux live cd, and the same thing happens, while the live cd is booting the laptop shutsdown, i am stumped as to why its doing this, the cmos battery is dead, i could try replacing to see if that fixes the issue. I know the laptop is ancient but i a am fixing it as a restoration\collection project.
I already tried booting it with different ram dims, still the same thing happens, for some reason while on the bios it can stay on for hours.

That's very unusual that it can post, but won't load any OS. If Windows or Linux fail to work, there's a hardware issue somewhere(thank you Captain Obvious). My guess would be a bad motherboard, it's about to enter it's third decade of service, but that's certainly not the only candidate. Replacing the CMOS battery is inexpensive as would be re-seating any connectors. You might want to post this over on ThinkPads.com, where the knowledge collective with regards to ThinkPads dwarfs what you're going to find here. Good luck and welcome to NBR.

Can be as easy as a faulty charger, can't handle the extra load of loading an OS and shuts down, taking tha laptop with it.

Thank you for the input, i order a cmos battery since that had been gone, i guess me getting and letting it sit for 4 years was not a good idea XD.
