yesterday, this was an option when choose an operating system when configuring a t61p. it took off almost $40 if you chose this over vista or xp. i was very happy because i was probably going to purchase one later this week with the dos license, but now there is no option for the thinkpad dos license anymore :(

i thought it might of been just the cpp site, but it's the main site also. i'm about to cry.

You're right. I looked on the website 6/1 and they had it, and I just double checked now and it's gone. Maybe its a temporary thing.

You could just sell the vista or xp license right? I might buy it off you if that's an option for whatever the cost is (22 and change right?).

lol i really hope they add it back.. i was looking on lenovo's site for a support email address, but had no luck. maybe i wasn't looking hard enough.

i might even call them to request the dos license since i don't know an e-mail address and don't know if asking them through e-mail would even do anything.

I just talked to a lenovo rep asking him about the dos o/s option and he told me it was an error. I am not happy about that.

omg, so it's never going to be an option again?! that's so stupid, that was probably the best option they had in their configuration. it was making me completely forget dell... wow i'm pretty unhappy right now as well. i really wanted a t61p without an os.

I just bought a T61 last week with PCDOS. That shaved $100-$105 from the price. Now it´s not there any more!!

My problem was that the Linux version did not have a T9300 option, so I went to the Vista version and removed Vista, but was able to upgrade to the T9300.

EDIT: The T9300 was available with Linux. The problem was the 3945 wifi which had a lead time of 3-4 weeks, while the Vista-No OS had immediate delivery.

The Vista license is tied to that computer. He wouldn't be able to sell the license. Rather, he would be able to sell the license, but you would get nothing of value.

I emailed one of the reps regarding a quote I took with the PC DOS license a week back, the rep said the quote was now invalid as they do not ship without an OS and that the option on the site was due to an error. He also said that anyone who had ordered with PC DOS never got PC DOS as the order was invalidated.

i wonder how that "error" managed it's way onto their laptops configurations... oh well, i guess since no one else was able to get that deal, i don't feel as angry anymore

anyway, does anyone know if there's a way to see how much tax will be before you purchase a laptop with lenovo's website? i want to compare the final price ofa t61p with shipping/tax to the final price of a dell xps with shipping/tax, but i do not know how to get that price of the t61p to have tax included.

um, get to the final step before you click to purchase or multiply the subtotal x your tax rate.

I ordered a T61 on June 2nd and was lucky enough to get the dos license. It shipped yesterday and the invoice still says its getting shipped with just dos. I could only find the dos license on the 15.4inch models, none of the 14.1's had the does license available. I guess someone screwed up and put it as an option for the 15.4. The lenovo tech must have been lying when he said no notebooks will be shipped out with just dos, probably to cover lenovo's ass. I guess we'll see what happenes when I get my T61. Did anyone else order a T61 and get the dos license?
